Hoppin down the bunny trail.

Easter is my second favorite holiday by far. It didnt get that way til I had kids though. I get super excited about filling their baskets, egg hunts, precious dresses (another reason I guess I'm meant to have girls), peeps, and yes, even the annoying fake grass that gets everywhere.
This year Easter was that of pure perfection.
The morning was spent digging through the girl's baskets finding treasures the Big Bunny Man left behind. After that we enjoyed "going" to church in our pjs....That's right! It was General Conference weekend meaning we enjoyed listening to talks and lovely music while in the comfort of my cloud pj's and couch.
Being that I am 5 months pregnant, of course I had cravings and decided to put them into action. For brunch we ate crepes filled with delicious fresh fruit and whipped cream (hey, at least the fruit part was healthy.)

In between conference sessions the girls got to do their Easter egg hunt in our community park a block away from the house. Sooner or later it was time to actually get out of our loungin pants and put on some nice clothes to go to dinner at my Uncle's house. Zoie was fairly adamant about not taking pictures in her Easter dress....oh well.

Like I said, I love Easter. I loved it most this year. Just me, my family, and the leaders of our church. Doesn't get much better than that....unless you get rid of that plastic grass in the Easter baskets.

A reason for my smiling heart....

A sister smiles when one tells one's stories - for she knows where the decoration has been added.

Remember Us?

If not, I'd like to introduce myself. My name is Shea. Shea Costa. I'm the one who usually rambles on about the shenanigans of the Costa family....however, my shenanigans have been few and far between. Excuse me a minute while I think of a good excuse as to why...................
..................
...........
....
....nope. I don't have one. So lemme redeem myself and tell you what we have been up to.
Little Miss Riley Roo. Where do I start? When she's not busy dancing, singing, selling cookies, giving a Girl Scout pledge, making up sports that are a cross between baseball and basketball, organizing tea parties, reading unruley ammounts of books, finding treasures, and dressing in completley unmatching clothes; she is, well....asleep. She is just as full of life as ever. I would like to warn those of you that strike up a conversation with her---it may never ends. This girl is a conversationist. Evenutally Berns and I have learned to add a nod and a "uh huh" after about 30 minutes of one story.
She makes it well aware that she is 7 AND A HALF. The half is very important to Miss Riley. She also loves to bake cookies on her own, and is thrilled when a friend, any friend, comes around to play. She is a WONDERFUL older sister to Zoie and tries to include her in all she does. She gets very defensive if someone tries to hurt or be mean to Zoie. Exhausting as she may be--she is stunning. End of discussion.

And then there is our little monter...the beast...the Zoie. Typing her name made me exhausted enough for a nap. From morning to night this little 1 year old is on the go. You will find her towering on top of her play kitchen countertop, dancing on top of the kitchen table, opening the door to the pantry to discover all the treats inside, running around butt naked because she has convienently ripped off her diaper, Or covered head to toe in marker that she has decorated herself with. If for some reason she is sitting for a moment it's because she is digging in the dirt, unraveling the toilet paper, or found the bag of chocolate chips to devour.
She is a little wonder. She has learned many many words...sometimes it takes me a bit to figure out what the heck she is saying because she speaks half portuguese and half english. Her little spirit is a crack up. Exhausting as she is--we think she's perfect.

Child #3 spends his days working...a lot. Berns still is fortunate enough to work from home--however we still dont see him (isn't that an oxymoron?) When he's not busy with work you will find him with the girls--playing basketball in the house, eating the bag of chocolate chips with zoie, having barking wars with the dog, or watching a soccer game. He is still involved with the scouts. We love him for working as hard as he does in such horrible economic times.

And then there is me. For those of you who hybernate for the winter, or are just "not all there"; I am large with our third child. Costa child #3 will make it's debut appearance the end of August. We aren't finding out what this little monkey will be, so I guess I'll just be buying cute things for both genders. Other than getting excessively large I spend my time not cleaning, not cooking, not blogging. I work for a performing arts school where I've been lucky enough to direct 2 productions of Beauty and the Beast. I stay quite busy with that and trying to fulfill my motherly duties. Riley tends to go to school looking like Punky Brewster, Zoie usually looks a little homeless, and my house generally has a "tornado has just touched down" appearance. But the kiddos remain happy, the husband stays fed, and the house has not caved in yet...I think I'm doin alright.

Now that I've posted an encyclopedia on our whereabouts (and I lost your interest about 6 paragraphs ago) here are some pictures from the past few months. Enjoy.

Just Plain Mean.

Dear Necco,

I have been a faithful customer of yours for the past 20sum years. I look forward to the beginning of the year when I know stores across the nation will hold your fantastic pastel conversation hearts--truly my favorite candy. Come Valentines day I find myself stocking up on bags of deliciousness. Many people look at me in disgust asking how i could eat something that taste like "chalk"...however...I've been addicted...for years.
So it was nothing new that my excitement escalated this Valentines season...only to have my cravings shot down.
Let's not be polite any longer. Why on earth would you take away the delicious white candy heart and replace it with a disgusting "blue raspberry" piece of chunder? Why on earth would you also flavor all the other flavors and RUIN a once perfect creation.
You are flat out mean. End of discussion. I will no longer ask for you to "Be Mine".

Saddened Deeply,
Shea.

Reason #3985402039 to have little girls

They look super cute in tights, fluffy boots, and pea coats.

Trim the Tree

I'm a bit of a freak about Christmas. If I could justifiably do it, I would start decorating in July. So the day after Thanksgiving I made Berns pull out all the decorations and MADE my sister Damon come join in the decorating fun. Berns and Damon put the tree together. Riley sorted out decorations...and I got the AWE.SOME. job of detangling lights (how on earth did I end up with the craptacular job?)..and Zoie..she well...see for yourself...

The loot from the garage

....and THIS is what I found Zoie doing in the other room. Let me make note that I can hardly open the cabinets to the game closet, yet somehow the 1 year old opened it, found the cards, and scattered them....everywhere...

Then she proceeded to get the christmas box and push it to the trashcan so she could rummage through the trash...such a good little helper.

Going Postal

I have been informed that I have been much-a-slacker at updating the lives of the Costas. So, let's back up to the beginning on the lovely christmas season and start from there.

As soon as December 1st hit...well, let's be honest, as soon as Thanksgiving dinner was eaten; Riley decided it was time to get going on her letter to Santa. She wrote many rough drafts (yes, she told me that's what they were) before she was ready to send them off.
And then Riley asked me, "Mom...just how do I know that Santa is getting this. What is my guarentee?"

Uh.... *think shea, think* "well....uh...the...uh....Post Elf leaves you a surprise in the mailbox when he comes to get it cause the normal postman cant take them--he doesnt know where Santa lives" (i know, i know, i'm pure genius)

So Riley took her letter...and the one she so graciously wrote for zoie, and stuck them in the mailbox. The next day, to her surprise, the genius little post elf left the 2 girls a surprise.

The best part of this story is what Riley's christmas list entailed.
1. A picture of an elf signed
2. A list of why Santa likes me so much
3. Homemade chocolate chip cookies from Mrs. Claus
4. A picture of the North Pole and Santa's House
5. A santa outfit

I've decided she's a good one. We will keep her.

The treasures inside.
